- The part itself, once installed is great. And it charges my phone without issue. My phone is an iPhone XS. I’m using a normal thickness case as well. It’s not the case you can buy from Apple but I have one of those and this new case is very similar in thickness. The only issue is that the actual charging component arrived in the box separated from the plate that gets screwed into the back of the console lid.The charging module itself had some double sided tape on it but without any kind of backing. So either it separated in transit, or I received a used part that someone tinkered with. When I first stuck the module back onto the mounting plate and tightened everything back up the charger would not work. That’s because since they had become separated I was guessing at placement of the charging module when I adhered it to the mounting plate.I took the console back apart and with the module plugged in and the truck key on I held my phone in the spot it will sit while charging and moved the module around on the other side till my phone started charging. That position is at the very top (if the console lid is open, straight up in the air). Place the charging module at the top of the little recessed area it fits in. And then I stuck the mounting plate to it, while lining it up with the mounting holes. Now it works great. The only issue is that it should not have come separated from the mounting plate since that causes you to do more work than necessary to get things lined up enough to work. All in all, even with those issues it was installed in half an hour. The longest portion of the install was me being overly cautious removing the underside of the console lid, not wanting to damage the clips or mar any of the surfaces.
- This item has some of the most worthless reviews I\'ve seen, so let me try to provide one that might help you. My landscape:2017 Chevy Tahoe PremieriPhone 12 Pro with a \"medium\" case (the Apple leather case)iPhone XS with a \"medium\" aftermarket caseThe install was fairly easy for me. I\'m an avid DIYer. I tested the charger after plugging it into the harness per the instructions, and the charger itself worked great. Then I started playing with placement in the installation spot using both phones listed above. I started with the XS, and with the case on it, I couldn\'t get it to fit flat or pick up a charge, so I moved on to the 12 Pro. In the factory Chevy tray, the 12 Pro would just barely fit flat. I moved it up and down, flipped it both directions, and moved the charger underneath it in every configuration I could think of, including rotating it 90 degrees. No matter what I did, I could not get it to pick up a charge. You could probably do more invasive modifications to make this work, but for me, it\'s easier to just return and find a better solution. Honestly, part of the problem is that the Chevy mat doesn\'t fit modern phones very well so they lay flat. But the factory charge module also looked pretty beefy - is has a heatsink built into the aluminum on it.Good luck!
- I was pretty happy when I found this, that now we would be able to take advantage of a cool feature in our Yukon that we previously hadn\'t been able to use. Our iPhone X never worked on the factory qi charger. So this one said it would work. I had seen a lot of bad reviews and there were also a lot saying it worked good. While this does charge the phone no problem when not installed it doesn\'t work when installed through the rubber mat. I even took the case off of the phone. It came not installed on their backing plate (though it was supposed to be) so I was able to try it in all positions under the pad. It just doesn\'t work when installed in any position. Now I will have to spend more to buy one from a different seller. I wanted to get it through Amazon because of their great return policy. But this is the only brand I see that they offer. You would think with all the negative reviews they would move on to a better model and not even sell this one.EDIT TO ADD UPDATE:I bought a different one from a different source. This one claimed to be original GM product. But I have seen things manufactured in other countries with real logos on them but it did look to be good quality. But anyway, this one did cost me more, but fit and works perfectly as it should. It even charges my phone with an Otterbox Defender case on it. So it charges through the console pad and through my thick case. The one I am reviewing only charged my phone (with the case off) when plugged in but not installed in the console. Hopefully Amazon will start selling this different model as I prefer to by from Amazon for speedy delivery and easy returns.
- Won\'t work on an iPhone 12 or X as the resting pad is too small. I have a iPhone 8 and yes it will slowly charge, but every once and a while it will lose connection and immediately re-connect which beeps every time it connects. Kind of drives me nuts listening to that all the time, so I use my USB cable instead.
- They should be more clear on what is needed for installation
- The product fits great but having problem with my iPhone getting hot when it\'s charging. Can someone help with my problem.
- Easy replacement for your android only wireless chargers in a Chevy Silverado. Only complaint is that it may not charge through some thicker cases.
- The product was easy to install, but it wasn’t powerful enough to charge my iPhone XS through the GMC charging pad and a modest phone case. It would charge the phone with the case removed, but I would blow through several iPhones per year if I didn’t use some form of case to protect the phone.
