SIMOLIO Digital 2.4GHz Dual Wireless TV Headphones with Spare Battery for Hearing Impaired and Seniors, Tone and Balance Control, Personal Sound Amplifier, 100 ft Work Range, No Audio Delay, SM-824D2
- Does exact what it promised.Augments sound from TV and SURROUNDINGs (at the touch of a button).Works perfectly with Samsung hospitality model TV.I can set the TV to any volume and Simolia works independently via the optical port.My mother did seem to prefer the sound via TV Ears digital more but one charge port broke quickly on the dual transmitter base, came with no extras doesn\'t work but 3 ft from the transmitter and dies after 2 to 3 hours. This Simolio comes with extra ear tips- 2 types. Washable silicone and disposable foam. It has the extra battery and needs no screw driver to open the batt cover. Interestingly it also has ear loops for those who want the device to hang from the top of your ear, up where one\'s eyeglasses sit.Manual is well written and almost too detailed. Sooo many ways to attach it.It\'s simply an A+ item.1 nagging NegGreen Light flashes on the base after you\'ve cut the TV off. It does that wherever the port isn\'t transmitting sound. So if it\'s in your bedroom and you hate light there like we do, be sure to cut the set off more than 10 minutes before you try to sleep to give that light time to become steady. Then cover it with something. I keep asking manufacturers to put a DARK SLEEP MODE on all electronics. Still isn\'t happening enough.
- I purchased these for my husband because I was annoyed with being overstimulated by the high volume on the TV. Closed captioning did not help because my husband does not like to read. Lol! These have been a Godsend for my ADHD! Set up was a breeze. Connected right away to our TV. He\'s had no issues so far and really likes these. Recommend.
- I bought the single headset a couple years ago and was satisfied with the sound quality it provided. In addition I could watch late night without disturbing anyone. Peace and harmony. I was getting ready to order a spare battery and came across the dual headphone option that came with a spare battery. My package arrived promptly but the transmitter didn\'t work. I contacted SIMOLIO directly and they provided a replacement transmitter next business day. Every company has a defective unit from time to time, it\'s the way that they handle the problem that sets them apart . They took ownership of the issue, communicated their solution and followed through.
- Sound was good, easy to setup but not very confortable. Returned them and bought a different brand.
- The bad:1) The ear buds are VERY uncomfortable after a short time and the ear bud stalks are so stiff there is no way to adjust the ear buds to any other angle that might be more comfortable. I tried both the foam and silicone ear bud covers. The silicone ones are slightly better but both hurt your ear canal after only a short time. I also tried the over the ear loops. These support the weight slightly better but still not enough to be comfortable for any long period. The best I could do was pull the ear buds out so they were barely in my ears and rest the center part of the headset on my chest while leaning back in a recliner. I could survive that for somewhat longer.2) The transmitter base is very sensitive to the audio level sent from the TV to the transmitter. I found I had to turn off the TV internal speakers so that I could turn up the volume on the TV so that the output level going to the transmitter was high enough to keep the audio and green light on most of the time. This means you can\'t really expect to use the TV speakers at a lower volume, for others in the room, while one person uses the headset at a louder volume. Still, when there is a quiet part of the TV show lasting several seconds the transmitter will think the audio input has been lost and the green light will blink, while you lose audio, until the TV show starts some louder dialog or music at which point it may go back to working after missing a few seconds of dialog. Sometimes you have to crank the volume up much higher in order to get the transmitter to realize there is audio to transmit before you can get the audio back. This is apparently some kind of power saving \"feature\" to turn the transmitter off when the audio source is turned off. But the result is a very annoying loss of audio at random times and having to run the volume up and down sometimes to get the audio back. This could be a real problem if you only have fixed level audio output from the TV - it might not work at all in that case.3) If you do pause the TV program for a couple minutes, the headset may turn it self off. You then have to switch the headset off and back on to get the audio back when you restart the TV program. The Good:1) Very clear audio for dialog. Average for music & other background sounds2) Small and light weight.3) Dual headsets and easy to use charging base in a small footprint.4) Simple, no Bluetooth pairing needed.5) Spare battery, but never needed it in 4+ hours of use.6) Wireless ability to walk around the house while doing chores and still listen to TV. The range is slightly better than Bluetooth options I tried but certainly not the suggested 100 feet in my house.7) Automatic power off of the headsets after a few minutes of no audio -- if you forget to turn the headset off at least you don\'t run the battery down.Recommendations to Simolio:1) remove the ear stalks and use a standard 3.5mm audio jack so that any ear bud or head phones could be used so the customer can use what ever is comfortable for them. Just make the receiver into a necklace. Consider making the necklace also a T-coil loop so it would work with hearing aids.2) Make the audio input much more sensitive so you can use a low TV volume on the audio output. This would let people leave the internal TV speakers on at low volume and the persons using the headset can set their own volume individually in the headset.3) Don\'t turn off the audio unless the audio input goes quite for several minutes so you don\'t lose audio frequently during TV programs.4) Separate the transmitter function from the charging base function so that you can have the transmitter at the TV and the headsets charging next to where the user always sits down. And, use standard USB connectors and chargers.
