  • I have always enjoyed Monster products and feel that they do a great job prioritizing a dynamic listening experience suitable to a variety of genres and musical interests. My general thoughts and some considerations about this speaker (from someone who has owned a number of JBL, Bose, Sony, Beats, and Harmon Karmon speakers over the years) are below.Things I liked:- The size of the speaker is bigger (and louder) than similarly priced competitor speakers. For example, compared to my JBL Flip, the sound quality on the Monster DNA Max was louder, fuller, and more dynamic than my JBL. This product does a nice job with providing a larger and louder speaker without it being too large and difficult to transport. The weight of the speaker is also manageable enough to carry around with you. It also comes with an optional wrist strap. I personally wouldn\'t recommend using this as the primary way to carry this around, but it is a nice safe guard to have in case you were to drop the speaker on accident (similar concept to wearing the safety strap that came with the old Wii remotes).- Charging versatility is also a nice feature. You can charge the speaker either by directly plugging in a USB-C cord into the speaker (included) or charging in on the wireless charging base (that also uses a USB-C cable). The wireless charger can also be used to charge your phone or other devices when not being used with your speaker. Another great feature is you can also use the speaker to charge your phone (for example, I can use a USB-C to lightening cable to charge my iPhone). This is a nice feature in the event you were out and about somewhere and were running low on battery.- Speaker is indeed waterproof. This has become a common feature with portable speakers, but is worth mentioning for those who may want to take this to the beach or pool.- Battery life also appears to be a strength of this speaker. Of note, the Amazon description of this product says it lasts about 13 hours. However, the instructions that come with the speaker say it can last about 20 hours on a single charge. So far, I think we have gone over 13 hours on a single charge (without using the battery to charge another device simultaneously).- Charging cable is a 6ft braided nylon cord which I also appreciated. I\'ve had better luck with this type of material and the length of the cord is ideal.Other General Considerations/Comments:- There are no \"mode\" options with this speaker, so what you hear is what you get.- For someone who listens to a wide range of music, I like that this speaker can accommodate those interests fairly well. However, if you\'re someone who primarily listens to bass-heavy music, then this speaker may not be the best option. While it has decent bass and captures lower frequencies well, there are other speakers on the market that outperform it in this area (but are usually speakers that are designed for bass heavy music)- Compared to Bose, I would say Bose has a bit more crispness to it\'s sound quality but the DNA Max has better battery life and can be louder than Bose. However, compared to JBL, I preferred the Monster DNA max in all areas.- Minor note but the QR code that is printed on the box does not work. It takes you to a broken link. However, the instructions are sufficient enough that you do not need to use this.OVERALL, you can\'t go wrong with this product if you are looking for a portable speaker that delivers high quality, full-bodied sound at a resonable price point.
  • I have a few portable speakers from off-brands to name-brand ones and this Monster Speaker is one of the better ones that I\'ve used. The sound is very booming for a wireless portable speaker and you will notice the 360 sound direction. However for the price, I\'m surprised it lacks any sound customization. It\'s pretty much a preset output. I would loved to be able to at least have some treb to bass controls. The weight although heavier than others is still very portable. When you pick it up it is quite bulky but with the carry-on strap it makes it very easy to carry. And I really like the feel of this speaker. It has this premium feel to it and with large up/down volume buttons. When you power it on it connects quickly and easily plus it lights up and sends a message to let you know that it is. I love that it charges wirelessly but the charging pad does tend to get a bit hot plus it works great in charging my iphone 14 pro max also. The one thing that I\'m still trying to figure out is the charging light. I\'ve left it on to charge over-night and I keep getting the intermitent glow that seems to show it\'s still charging the next morning. Which doesn\'t seem to help let me know if it is fully-charged or not. Overall, this is my go-to-portable speaker. Great to easily take outdoors to the woods, the pool, the beach or perhaps to play some music while you\'re taking a shower or even while you\'re on the treadmill. It\'s a simple yet great sounding portable wireless speaker that works great on-the-go without having to mess around with it.
  • I\'m a music lover and amateur DJ, so I\'m always in the market for a portable speaker to bring my music with me wherever I go. All my housemates have JBL speakers, but some of theirs are failing with age so I decided to put this Monster portable speaker to the test. For a portable speaker without a boombox style handle this is a little on the large / heavy side, but it comes with an optional carrying strap that can be attached to a loop on the corner of the speaker. It\'s slightly taller and wider than the JBL charge series, and feels much more substantial. Similar to my housemates\' speakers, the Monster DNA Max is fully waterproof and dustproof with an IP67 rating, which makes it a worthy travel partner for beach trips or other outdoor activities. It\'s got wireless charging capabilities and comes with a Qi charging pad fitted to the oval shape of the base, but it also seems to charge effectively with other wireless charging stations. Another bonus feature is that it acts as a power bank in a pinch and can recharge a phone from the onboard battery (which lasts 15+ hours if you\'re just playing music). Now on to the important part, the sound...I\'m honestly impressed with the volume this portable speaker produces. Even at max volume the audio quality does not suffer, the highs and mids sound crisp and clear and the bass response is excellent without sounding muddy or rumbly. I wouldn\'t call it a bass-heavy speaker but found the sound to be very balanced while producing more bass than much of the competition in the portable speaker market. I prefer it to the JBL speakers for listening at home and will only choose a different portable speaker if size or weight is an issue. It doesn\'t offer different EQ settings and if you\'re looking to fine-tune your frequencies you\'ll have to do this from your device, but I don\'t mind. It\'s very easy to use, just plug & play. I\'ve had no issues with the Bluetooth connection - it recognizes my phone and other devices quickly and stays connected reliably (which has been an issue with other speakers).Overall, it\'s not an audiophile quality speaker (but it\'s also not marketed as one), and for a consumer level portable party speaker it delivers some serious sound, in a sleek and well-designed package that feels like it will last years to come. Better than much of the competition in and above it\'s price range.
