Exactly as described. I used this for OpenCPN to connect into NMEA 2000 network.
This did a fantastic job tying my NMEA-0183 OpenCPN plotter to my SeaTalk-NT (NMEA 2000) network. It even took care of converting the RayMarine autopilot proprietary messages.
