  • tldr:Excellent sound quality, especially lossless. Comfortable fit and security. ANC bloats bass and only works well when you cram these deeper than my ears can accomodate, even after trying every tip. Can\'t increase transparency volume, so it\'s limited to lower music volumes. Heart rate monitor is stupid.Full review:The affordable lossless wireless earbud is here! And it comes with a nice app with greeat features! I love the detail and sparkle the second driver adds, and it especially helps to make a clear difference when listening to lossless audio with LDAC. I have cheaper Soundpeats buds that use LDAC, but the higher quality drivers in these Soundcore Liberty 4 buds actually allow you to hear the difference.DON\'T BUY IT FOR THE ANC. It bloats the bass and actually creates false notes. These are shallow-fit buds, much like Apple\'s Airpods. They\'re made so the tips will barely enter the ear canal. The oval tips provide excellent fit with good seal, but they WON\'T keep the buds deep enough for the internal ANC mic to work properly. Yes, I tried all tip sizes, and I\'m a Large instead of my usual medium. If I absolutely CRAM the buds into my ears, the ANC will work well, but less than a minute later, the buds back out just enough to cause the ANC to malfunction. To be clear, I\'m getting a great seal; the bass is very strong and the buds are never loose. The ANC internal mic is poorly tuned for such a shallow fit. Oh, and the app is misleading. It looks like ANC is infinitely adjustable, but there are actually only 3 settings.I need deeper tips for this ANC to work properly, but Anker provides no alternatives and prevents the use of aftermarket tips. If your tips aren\'t visibly transparent, you lose the heart rate sensor, plus several key features, such as wear detection and some controls. Stupid, huh?Transparency is good a low music volumes, but when it comes to safety, this transparency mode fails. If you want to hear cars, etc, you may as well just get an open-air bud. When there is no music, I hear a lot of white noise, and when music volume is increased, the transparency remains the same volume, so the music still drowns out the outside world. I want transparency that allows me to adjust the volume of the ambient sound, so I can still hear my environment while playing music at a loud volume. These buds only give you two modes, and neither performs well. Sony appears to allow custom transparency volume, so maybe Soundcore can update their software.I\'m still keeping them for the sound quality. Really, this is one of the best earbuds I\'ve heard, very close to my expensive over-ear headphones with a premium amp. The LDAC is strong and reliable, I can genuinely hear the difference when I compare Lossless vs 320kbps recordings of the same song. The \"tweeter\" driver superbly reproduces all the high-end detail without sounding analytical, and it allows the larger driver to provide punchy, accurate bass and midbass. Bassheads might like how the ANC bloats the bass beyond EQ, until it starts creating its own bass tones.Comfort is exceptional. The shallow fit oval tips provide an excellent seal without fatigue. They won\'t fall out, and I sometimes forget I\'m wearing them. The case feels nice, but is too bulky. I\'d gladly give up some case battery life if I could fit this in my jeans coin pocket, like I can do with SoundPeats or Airpods.I\'ll say it again, THE HEART RATE SENSOR IS STUPID, and it prevents you from properly using aftermarket tips. Why would I ever want this in and earbud?? I suspect Anker is just using it to sell data, much like the sleep monitor on their Sleep A10. You can\'t turn those off, so Anker is benefitting more from these \"features\" than you are.
  • Update Mar 2023: After listening to these more, I found that while sound quality is good, there is something a bit off about how they sound. The imaging doesn\'t seem to be right. Imagine you have your home speakers, and instead of toeing them in a little like you typically do, you have them pointed outward, away from each other. Not sure if that\'s what\'s happening, but that\'s the impression I\'m getting. It\'s as if the soundstage was made artificially wider than it should be. Again, they don\'t sound bad, they just sound... a bit odd/different (as compared to how the same songs sound using all other earbuds, headphones, speakers). Thus, I am adjusting my review to 4 stars.Update Dec 2022: Turns out the Liberty 4 I originally had were defective (see orig review below). I\'m happy to say that the replacement Liberty 4 I received did not have the overwhelming bass with ANC turned on. There is still a definite increase in bass with ANC, but it isn\'t a huge amount and it could be corrected via EQ. Since the Soundcore app lets you create and save custom EQ settings, you can (and should, I feel) create a custom EQ for use when ANC is turned on.Only 4 ear tips are provided but I was able to find a good, secure fit with the large ones. The seal was good and it felt comfortable. It stayed in my ears securely with normal head movements, but I didn\'t test with more vigorous movements (like during exercise) since I didn\'t plan to use them while exercising. The ANC works decently to cut down external noise. It\'s likely not quite as good as Sony or Bose, and there is a little bit of white noise with ANC on that\'s only noticeable when nothing else is playing. But the ANC works, it reduces the outside noise somewhat. In a coffee shop, the higher frequencies seem to tend to sneak through a little more than the lower frequencies.I think these sound pretty good now and have revised my review from 3 to 5 stars. These are still a little bass heavy earbuds overall, but it\'s not an unreasonable amount and you can EQ that away if you so choose. The bass is good, though maybe it could be just a little tighter, cleaner. But for its price ($120-150), it\'s fine. The highs, details and mids are good and clear. No harshness at all. Vocals maybe sound a tad bit recessed. Soundstage is wide.Overall, these are very nice sounding and performing earbuds. The transparency mode works really well also. Voices came through clearly and I was easily able to carry on a conversation without removing the Liberty 4. Well done, Soundcore!Original review: Music sounds fine without ANC turned on, but when ANC is turned on, bass is way ridiculously over emphasized. I EQd the bass down as far as possible and it was still too much bass. It was just unusable/unlistenably bad with ANC. It\'s not clear whether I got a defective unit or that\'s the way it is? On the plus side, the app is very nice: full featured, solid, mature, good UI (easy to use), up there with Sony\'s app. And the earbuds themselves were comfortable and I was able to get a secure fit.
