Moondrop S8 8BA IEM Bass HiFi in Ear Monitor Earphone
- Pros:Amazing build qualityVery clear detailed soundExcellent imagingAbove average soundstage Handles busy music with easeGood bass and treble extensionGreat fit with above average isolationCons:Mids are a little recessedBass is primarily in the lower register, leaving upper bass and lower mids sounding thin (This includes a lot of commonly used lower register instruments and male vocals)Cable and accessories are lacking for this price classThere is no filter to prevent wax/dust from entering the portsThere is no vent, which causes pressure build up in ear canalI would recommend these to anyone looking for a highly resolving earphone with a very analytical sound that has a sensitivity to bass. A good alternative at this price is the Thieaudio Clairvoyance, which exhibits a lot of the same sound qualities plus has a dynamic driver that produces proper bass. However, I personally found the S8 fit a bit more comfortable.
- Ok, I just received my S8’s today.. and I’m impressed. It’s over.. I’m done with full size cans now, I’ll never buy another pair. I was listening to Sunday Morning by Zilched when the S8’s arrived, and I was finding my FiiO FH-7’s overwhelmed by the bass, but the S8’s handled the heavy bass and reverb just fine, and the clarity on the high end is incredible. Of course, headphones need a little break in time, so in a couple of weeks I might edit this review a bit. But amazing sound out of the box for sure.
- I am owner of 64 Audio U12\'s, QDC Anole Vx10\'s. Who ever knows what these are will know what I am saying and that is all I am saying. lol....I did all the research for you. Happy like an ELEPHANT !!! Get it and you will also be a happy ELEPHANT :-) It will definitely massage your BRAIN inside out. My portable Amps are Apogee Grove & Cambridge Audio DacMagic XS. ENJOY with JOY !!!
- Overall nice sound quality, but the stock cable is not great. The little pins were bent for the right side out of the box, this is not due to shipping but rather a factory defect as the shipping box arrived in perfect condition. Had to use a pair of pliers to bend the pins straight so I could get them inserted to the right-side IEM.Very disappointing QC, but not surprising nowadays.
- The best iems you can buy at this price range.
- First some disclaimers, I purchased these open box on the second hand market so I did not pay full price for them. As far as my iem experience and prior experience, in the last year I have tried out the moondrop ssp, aria, kato, and blessing 2 as well as the truthear zero and hexa. I personally prefer a slightly warmer tone with good detail and solid bass. At the moment, the only iems I have kept are the aria and the s8.I\'m pretty new to the audiophile world so I won\'t be too technical with his review. To start, I absolutely love the s8. It is by far the best sounding audio product that I have ever used, the balance is unbelievably good. The treble is clear and crisp without being shouty or sibilant, the mids are amazing and clear and these have a fantastic subbass which honestly blew me away when I first listened to them, especially after being slightly disappointed from he bass performance on the blessing 2. Honestly, zero complaints with the tuning and sound quality I absolutely love them.Moving on to comfort, the fit of these are amazing, I have smaller ears and found the blessing 2 and the truthear zero to be too large and very uncomfortable, but the s8 fit perfectly in my ears without any real discomfort from the size. Now the main issue of these, and the reason I don\'t think that they are perfect. These being unvented makes them slightly uncomfortable when inserting and removing due to pressure buildup. These feel like noise canceling ear plug when inserted and that can be uncomfortable for some, including me. I found that switching to the moondrop spring tips helped with the discomfort a lot due to them inserting less than the stock tips. My last nitpick is the cable. This cable is not good for a $700 iem. I would recommend you buy some $40 ssr or ssp iems and use that cable instead.Overall, even with these flaws I have never had any audio product blow me away the way these did. To me, they do sound $400 better than the blessing 2, but I have not listened to the dusk so I cannot make the comparison with those. If you have the ability to try these out and return them if you don\'t like them, do it! Especially if the pressure from unvented iems isn\'t an issue to you, I don\'t see how anything can be much better than these for the price.
- All sounds harmonious.fast shipping friendly customer response
