SAMSUNG MX-ST50B Sound Tower High Power Audio, 240W Floor Standing Speaker, Bi-Directional Sound, Built-In Battery, IPX5 Water Resistant, Party Light+, Bluetooth Multi-Connection, 2022
- very few thorough reviews on the mx st90b out on the web. sound quality is excellent, clear, with good separation coming from 2 woofers, 2 mid range speakers, and 2 tweeters. Neutral profile sound, not muddy or too warm and not distorted. just a nice even sound with the bright but not shrill highs, clean mids not muddled, and palpable bass that is not underwhelming. Bass has enough bone rattling punch to be effective but not a standout nor does it completely overpower the mids and highs. Volume can max out high enough to be deafening and uncomfortable. It will fill a large space with good quality music. Bi-directional speakers offer a wide area of effect and act like stereo speakers with each side acting as left and right channels. comes with a very handy remote control, but the sound tower app is lacking and the helpful little screen from the previous model is gone. I wish it had an internal rechargeable battery but alas it is plug in only. The design of the unit is also very sleek, simple, and elegant, it will not look out of place in a classy living room. Pairing the device was quick and I did not encounter any connectivity issues. Overall, i am very happy with this product and highly recommend it. If you\'re going to complain that JBL is louder with more bass blah blah blah, just take your JBL and go. If you are a looking at the Samsung mx st90b, then it is a solid buy especially if you can find it at a discounted price.PS watching videos of the speaker playing music does not do this justice, you must hear it in person to appreciate the quality of music it puts out.
- I don\'t usually write reviews but this speaker is one of samsung\'s best product. I bought MX-ST90B 1700 watts. Excellent sound quality with punchy bass. To feel the bass, you have to turn it on. Unfortunately, there\'s no light that indicates when the bass is on. Some reviews here exaggerated the flaws. I could easily connect using the samsung sound tower app and could easily connect to my samsung TV via Bluetooth. I am definitely getting a second to have a pair. I highly recommend this product. I have previously used Sony and JBL speakers and can say this speaker produces better sound with punchy bass with very easy manipulations. It comes with a remote so you have the option to change sound quality from the speakers, app and remote. Samsung got it right on this speaker.
- Mx-st40B. Picked up on sale for 180. Arrived in gd condition, plugged-in included a/c cord immediately, and is working at arrival! Like the hand remote, sound, bass boost is helpfull, lights, size, and look of this tower! Haven\'t had outside yet. Dont know how on-board battery life is yet currently plugged into a/c outlet with included cord.Have had 0 issues bluetooth pairing, not sure if it will auto pair next time.. But I can control sound with remote, app, or volume buttons on my Galaxy S20ultra!!Have had 0 issues so far with sound tower app, unlike other reviews last month!App could use a few extra things/features but overal I\'m pleased so far with this purchase after paying with sp tower for about an hour! Really looking forward to having this on the deck this summer!! IF these were Wi-Fi ready also i would have been 5 stars.
- I’ve had this for a couple of weeks now and used it quite a bit. I’m very happy with the quality of sound. Great clarity, depth, volume, and little to no distortion even at max. Five stars as a speaker. It’s HALF the wattage on battery, which I didn’t see until I was looking at the manual to figure out the app. Though it’s still plenty loud. I haven’t taken it to the beach or something similar where you may need that additional power, but it’s more than enough for a back yard. The software side is absolutely abysmal! Almost made me want to return it. Definitely not worthy of the Samsung brand from what I’ve seen elsewhere. A) as others have said the UI for the app is terrible. Trying to connect to the speaker is a frustrating experience and ends up as a second BT device on my phone. B) This is the only BT device I have ever seen that you can’t adjust the volume using your phone’s volume buttons. That’s terribly annoying! That one aspect is what made me want to send it back. You have to open the app, connect to the tower, then adjust the volume from the app. There also isn’t a real clear indicator of the volume level. Tap the up/down once, and wait for the goofy lights to dance around then show you. C) The app’s pause/play doesn’t integrate with your phone’s native pause/play. When I hit play again, it tries to pull up an audio library within the tower app.The speaker itself is 5 star. Software, including BT functions on the speaker is a 3 star at best.
- THE GOOD: At its retail price point of $550ish only the sound quality hits or exceeds the mark. I own both the JBL Partybox 310 and the Samsung MX-ST50B. The JBL wins in every major category.THE ABYSMAL: The Soundtower app is awful and legitimately unusable. If you are reading the reviews that say it is bad and you\'re thinking like I was that people are probably being too picky... STOP... The app is worse than can even be described by words. It literally has no redeeming quality, none... And you can\'t update the firmware through the app like most other Bluetooth speakers with apps. Literally the only benefit to the app is that you can tell when bass boost is on, as there is no indicator light on the speaker.THE TOLERABLE:• The lights are alright, but underwhelming.• The master volume is controlled by the speaker only (or speaker remote), from there you can raise or lower the volume through your Bluetooth connected device, but only up to the max volume that you\'ve set the speaker to. Not a deal breaker, but a definite buzz kill. It would be nice to have full control of the volume from your phone.• No battery life indicator.• Output drops from 240 watts to ~90 watts when relying only on battery power.• No bass boost on/off indicator light.• No native way to adjust the EQ.At $200-250 the Soundtower MX-ST50B would be a no brainer... At its retail price point, it does not compare to the JBL Partybox 310.
