Bose SoundTrue Headphones Around-Ear Style, Black/Mint
- This previously owned headphones and case is attractive, good quality, noise cancellation & good volume control. I expected sound to be a little more rich. I don\'t know why the tear couldn\'t have been repaired. A drop of glue or special patch that would blend in to material of headphone case would possibly keep it from tearing further and not be so noticeable. But I\'m sure you knew what you were doing.🎃🎃
- Ok, I am not 100% sure that these are the new version of what I have now but I\'m nearly certain they are. They look identical except for the cord. Mine are 5 years old, going on 6, so the cord seems to differ. Mine has a interlocking shape on the headphone side so it can\'t spin. And no mic or volume/play/pause control. BUT, sound quality and comfort are the front runners of these in my opinion. I am a singer/songwriter/producer and DJ. All of which I have been most active in within the last 6 years. I was in the market for some good headphones to monitor my audio with in the off chance I couldn\'t turn up my studio monitors. These were probably not the best bang for my buck at $150 range. But so unbelievably comfortable. OMG. I have worn these headphone in excess of 8 hours at a time on more than one occasion and can honestly I doubt there is a headphone on the market today that can beat the comfort of these. If indeed the model I am reviewing is what I have now. I did, by the way, order a pair of these 3 days ago with hopes that this is the same pair I bought before with some minor updates and colors. I will update my review upon receipt of them. Moving on, the sound quality is as others have said, it\'s pretty flat. Not the best for monitoring if you are a producer/engineer. As a home recording artist and DJ these are the sh*t. For monitoring.... just ok. I almost always have to change my mixes after mixing using just these headphones. Sound totally different on my Yama ha monitors. But again, if you are a DJ or recording artist who just wants something comfortable and good to listen to while you are recording/performing, then these are the business. Obviously. I am buying another pair. Granted I got a black Friday deal for $75. But I feel they are worth the $150 I paid for the first pair. My brother has is also a DJ and has a few sets of his own headphones but insists on using my Bose whenever he has the opportunity. I just bought him a pair of Shure DJ headphones last Xmas and he said they aren\'t nearly as good for DJing. He lives the around the ear style as much as I do. And they aren\'t bulky. Super light weight. Comfort like I\'ve never felt and not over bassy. As a producer/engineer I appreciate accurate sound. Tho these are no match for a studio monitor, and I have yet to find a pair of headphones that are, they are not exaggerated on any level. Well I feel I\'m rambling, but I want to comment on the durability. I just now noticed after more than 5 years of heavy use that the outer layer of the ear cushion is coming off. Never seen it on me or anywhere else, but I notice it\'s wearing off a little bit. Other than that, no issues whatsoever. Cords fine. Comforts the same as its always been. Sounds the same as always. If I had known that I was going to feel the way I do about these I would have paid over $200 for them. Well worth it in my opinion.
- SEE UPDATE AT BOTTOM.I originally purchashed these solely for the purpose that the design (I got the mint striped black one) is very appealing. The reviews I found and researched on the sound quality seem mostly positive. But, since I have never bought anything Bose, I decided to give it a shot.My initial impressions are indeed very positive. They are very light and comfortable, as many reviewers have noted. I also find these very street attractive and may turn heads (we\'ll see). The wires are a bit long though. Now for the sound. It is very well balanced, warm and crisp. The bass is definitely there, but not thunderous. Vocals do seem to come alive. For everyday listening and variety, I think many will find this more than adequate, with full and bright sound.Note: as you may know, these are not noise canceling, which was perfectly fine with me. Loud, important noises can be heard (such as the door bell ringing) while wearing these. But, something is lacking with these phones. I can\'t seem to find out what it is. Maybe I want to find fault with these but, so far, nothing is amiss. I originally put 4 stars but hey maybe Bose finally got it right.UPDATE, 7/12/14:I am lowering my rating to 2 stars.. maybe a 2.5 for design and comfort only. After some time using these, I really feel that for a $170 pair of cans, the cabling needs to be thicker. They are still very comfortable and love the design BUT.... sound quality and especially the cable needs to be much more solid. If Bose wants to go studio monitors on these then they should create a flat response across the board, if not, they need to step up the game with crisper highs, better mids, and definitely more bass. The wires are so flimsy and I am sure it will cause interference and crackling very soon. I do not think my ratings will go higher than 2.5 stars - this may be my first and last Bose item.Update 7/29/14 :Apparently there was a break-in period???? Suddenly the music is coming alive. If you read my initial post, I said something may have been limiting these cans. Now with break-in, the sound rocks!!!!! I am bringing rating up to 4. Also these do work seamlessly with my iPhone and volume is precise. Only flaw now is thin wiring.
- They\'re light and don\'t clamp hard on my head -- and these are both great things! The sound is fine for my purposes, which is mostly YouTube videos and movies. The one thing I really hate is changing the ear pads. It\'s not easy -- it is, in fact, a real pain to do.That aside, I love them.
