  • 11/20/21 approx update.Headset is bricked. Used it one night, next morning won\'t turn on. Tried everything. $200 didn\'t even last 2 years.Bought a Razer Kraken V3 Wireless, never been happier and far fewer issues and FAR superior customer service.6/21/21 update:**Don\'t buy.Sound cuts out quite often on all active programs currently using the headset at the time it decides to stop working. i.e. YouTube in chrome sound will stop working but you can go to windows or a game and sound will work fine. Closing the program or unplugging the xmitter and replugging fixes it.Range is horrible. Cannot reliably reach my kitchen 15 feet away with only a single drywall wall in between - 2 sheets drywall and 2x4 studs. That\'s it - no steel, no electrical, no appliances. When reaching max range it pops and clicks loudly - well beyond your volume setting - RIP ears.Suspect to ANY interference. Microwave in the kitchen running? Well cut the range in half and if you are even near the microwave there is extremely loud pops and clicking - a lightning storm in your ears - again at much higher volume than your setting - RIP ears. These are the most expensive set of headphones I have ever owned and they do sound great and the set-up, while a little different with scanning your ears, was pretty easy, however there are a few problems with the headset.Using these for teleconferencing or chat is cumbersome because if you change a feature, say mute microphone - it turns off all sound to do the \"microphone off\" voice over; thus you completely miss anything that was said in those 2-3 seconds...sounds trivial until you realize how often you use it when conferencing. My 6-year old Jabra headset has easily 5x the range, same battery life, never cuts out, and cost about the same, and is far less susceptible to interference and when affected handles it MUCH better. So I went back to these for business and SXFI just sits at the gaming computer. At least the whine hasn\'t returned and it works mostly OK if I stay within 5 feet of my computer. So much for wireless and listening as I move around the house.**TL;DR at bottom...CONS:1. The driver features are limited. Every set of wireless headphones I have owned, even cheap $60 ones, have allowed of the configuration of the automatic off. While probably not a big deal for people I use them not only for gaming but also work and videos. I often wear them without anything playing and they always turn off at 10 minutes...for my use I would want this longer or configurable.2. The on/off beep is extremely loud, easily 2-3 times the volume level I listen at. While you\'d think this wouldn\'t be a big deal having it often turn off BEEP and then having to turn them back on BEEP frequently due to the above auto-off feature it bothers me, specifically, quite a lot.3. This biggest deal is the constant low level whine. There is ALWAYS a constant whine audible. No other headset I have ever owned has had this. It comes from the left earcup only. After a while it becomes quite bothersome and from a $200 headset that is supposed to be high in audio quality I find this disappointing.PROS:1. The sound is great in games and videos. These headphones are NOT boomy even with the bass set to the highest levels so if you are wanting to rumble your ears these will not do it, which is fine, I prefer better sound to overpowering bass or treble.2. Battery life is great. Easily lasts all day and recharges quickly.3. Weight and sound insulation. The headphones are not very heavy and fit well. The earcups block much of the background sound so you are well insulated from background or distracting sound. I do wish the earcups were a more breathable material as they do get hot from your ears.I\'ve reached out to Creative many times and I am still in the tech support loop but the jist I am getting from them is that the whine and other issues above are normal. Too bad considering much cheaper headsets have no had these issues or had far more features. Even my old WOW SoundBlaster headphones had many more features and adjustments, it is odd that their newer products would have less and at greater cost.TL;DRGood headphones if you do not mind a constant whine/buzz in the background.11/2/20 UPDATE:The buzzing is getting worse and is varying in frequency and level. Creative says this is normal; it can\'t be. It is loud enough to overpower quiet scenes. I tried watching \"A Quiet Place\" with these just to see what would happen. Yup in much of the movie the whine was equal to or greater than the background movie. I\'ve requested a replacement, awaiting reply.11/9/20 Update:After 3 weeks of going back and forth with support they refuse to advance ship a replacement, even after offering a CC# to keep on file. I\'ve explained that I also use these for my job daily as work from home and cannot be without a headset. So now I have to go purchase another headset so I can mail these back. Why would I ever purchase Creative again? (Changed to 1-Star)12/1/20 update:After contacting a manager via a Singapore office (only e-mail I could find that would reach a real person and NOT tech support that refuse to escalate my issue or work with me in ANY way) he got me in contact with a different person in support. They easily shipped a replacement and I boxed and returned the old headset within 1 hour of getting the new one. So easy; why did it take nearly 3 weeks to accomplish?
  • Great quality headset as I would expect from Creative Labs. All their products are quality and priced appropriately. I didn\'t realize they are USB only, so no Bluetooth connectivity with the phone. But that\'s ok as my son is a gamer and will enjoy them anyway.
  • What I liked:* The sound quality was good.* The ear cups feel fine against my face.* Customized 3D effect was nice. What I didn\'t like:* The headset squeezes just a bit too much. I wear a hat size \"L\", and these were borderline comfortable. It wasn\'t so bad as to cause a headache, but it was close.* The headband is a tad narrow and hard, making it uncomfortable after extended periods of use. I kept having to adjust the band across the top of my head. Admittedly, I\'m bald, so there\'s nothing else up there to help cushion them. If you have a full head of hair, you may not have an issue.* The microphone was a bit too \"flexy\". It wouldn\'t stay put.* The power on/off beeps are REALLY loud.* I couldn\'t get these to connect to the phone app to configure them. I ended up having to use a PC with the software loaded.* The microphone would sometimes not work in my conferencing application (Zoom on PC). Unplugging/re-plugging the USB dongle usually resolved it.* The artificial reverb added in the 3D effect was just a bit too rich in the high frequencies for my tastes.A note on the 3D effect:It works great as long as you don\'t move your head. I know that sounds peculiar, but it\'s true. It\'s a well-known psychoacoustic effect that your brain expects the sound to move if your head moves. If it doesn\'t, your perception changes, causing the virtual image to collapse. So if you\'re watching a movie with your head sitting still, you\'ll probably like it (and it sounds great). If you\'re gaming on a big screen and moving your head (particularly turning from side to side), you probably will not care for it.For $150, these are a 3-star headphone. If they were under $100, I\'d have given them 4 stars.
  • Good buy
  • Yes, great sound quality with the 7.1 when you are gaming, weak when you\'re watching movies which is Creative\'s selling point. Passive Noise cancellation is good. Battery life is great. But when gaming you cannot hear your own voice which prompted me to ask here in which Creative replied with the wrong answer.\"So is there a way to hear your voice when using these. Other headsets have a way to do that so you get an idea of your vocal volume?\"\"Answer:The sidetone feature exists also on the Creative SXFI Theater.By Creative Labs, Inc. SELLER on September 19, 2022\"After fiddling with this headset for another hour and a half I contacted creative directly in which they stated \"Thank you for contacting Creative Labs.Regarding your query, there is no sidetone or mic monitoring feature for Creative SXFI THEATER. However, the \"Listen\" tab on Windows Microphone Properties provides an option to enable mic monitoring for the SXFI Theater. \"You do NOT want to use the Listen tab in Windows as you will get a half second delay from when you talk. I will be returning these. Hope this helps.
  • The sound mapping App for the phone requires two people to make it work, so I skipped it. But even without that, the sound using the Super X-Fi is hands down the sweetest I\'ve ever heard. Pretty hard to find anything negative, but they are a bit uncomfortable after extended use. I have a GIGANTIC melon so that\'s to be expected.Update: After 1-year the battery will not charge. The manufacturer does not sell the proprietary replacement batteries and could not refer me to anywhere to get one; but they offered me a 10% off coupon to buy an entire new set of headphones. A complete insult. This is a terrible business model and I will not be purchasing anything from Creative again for the rest of my life. Admittedly, these were very impressive headphones while they lasted.
