1MORE Triple Driver Over-Ear Headphones Comfortable Foldable Earphones with Hi-Res Hi-Fi Sound, Bass Driven, Tangle-Free Detachable Cable for Smartphones/Android/PC/Tablet - Silver/Titanium
- So first off, theres a bit of semi false advertising by 1More. The first bit being that they\'re over ear: they\'re not. I\'d call them a hybrid over on ear. They were over ear width wise, but height wise one side sat on the ear. Also the pads aren\'t very thick so your ears are going to hit the foam area in front of the driver. That said, they\'re still very comfy, not as comfy as a true over ear, but definitely good for sub 3 hour listening with some breaks. The second bit of false advertising is in the name. They\'re not Triple Driver but dual driver. One of the so called drivers doesn\'t actually produce sound, it just helps with air flow for the base. So it does improve sound, but doesn\'t create sound. So it really should be called dual or 2.5 drivers. Now that were done with the bad, lets get on with the good parts.Build: These thing are built incredibly good. The pictures don\'t do these justice. The aluminum that looks sorta dinky in the pictures feels really solid in the hands. And I really like that there\'s the glass section that you can look through to see the drivers, very cool. It\'s not styled for me, I definitely prefer something a bit less flashy, but its built like a tank. The biggest down side to me is that the cord terminates to a 2.5 mm (I think) input to the headphones. I woulda liked to see a single sided 3.5mm so that it could be used with a mod mic more easily, but its not really a big deal.SoundOverall: These sound really punchy and have that bassier fun signature that is more common on products like Beats, albeit not to the extreme of those products. They overall aren\'t the most detailed or highest resolving headphones, but they still a step above most consumer grade products.Highs: The lower highs (which are what I care more about) that are still produced by the main driver do tend to get a bit drowned out by the bass. That said, cymbals and the really high stuff, is made by the ceramic tweeter (if I remember right) and those really stand out of the mix, not louder, just better separation. Overall they\'re not going to match a decent pair of open backs with highs, but they\'re not bad by any means. If you care about highs more, check out the 6xx\'s or 58x\'s by Senheiser. Those are much more resolving headphones and have a more natural airy sound than these do (and they\'re more comfy).Midds: Same story as the highs, but more extreme. The midds are the most muddied by the bass but again they don\'t sound terrible when alone. Again open backs do midds much better. If you want good midds check out something else. This just does midds, it just lacks texture and detail for the price range its at. If you really care about mids, check out the same Sennheiser headphones I mentioned earlier.Bass: The bass completely dominates everything. Like the rest of the sound it\'s not particularly detailed, there\'s just a lot of it. The sub base isn\'t stellar or particularly loud, but the mid bass is really loud. If your a fan of mid bass sound, you\'ll love these. The quality could be better, but its not bad, and people that just dig mid bass are going to love the in your face tonality of these frequencies on this headphone.Other features: I love the case that comes with the headphone. Its small enough to fit in a mid sized pocket on most back packs, and the headphones fold into it nicely. I think that every tech product over $100 ought to come with a decent protective carrying case. I\'m glad 1More agree.Who\'s it for?Given the easy-to-drive nature of these they\'ll sound great off a phone. They also fold down into a small case, and are closed back so they won\'t leak a lot of sound. These qualities make it a great headphone for use in public on commutes, in airports, etc. Its going to beat out any Beats, Bose, or Sony headphones in sound quality, especially if you like your bass and the punchy sound of these. They\'re perfect if that sounds like something that you need. Look at them as a wired, better, version of the Beats Solo line. If you want these for at home use however, check out a nice pair of open backs. For the price you can find a lot of headphones that sound better and are more comfy than these no matter what sound signature you like. Check out the Hifiman 4xx\'s, Senheiser 58x\'s, Philips Fidelio X2 HR\'s, or the Beyerdynamic 770/880/990 line of headphones. All provide different sounds depending on what you want, are in the same general price range ($1-200) and destroy these in resolution and detail retrieval. But for mobile use these are kings due to the size especially if you like punchy bass.
- First: I would like to say that I am not affiliated in any way with this company. I had never heard of them until I purchased the over ear from Amazon at full price.Second: I read through the reviews before purchasing and found that a good portion of bad reviews were on the in ear not the over ear.The good: Great sound spectrum and clarity. I am an audiophile with many sets in my collection that range from cheap $30 headphones to $2000 precision headphones. While these are not in the same league as a HD 800S, SR-L700, or even Ether Flow C they are audibly beyond their price range. The sound is amazing when you consider that they cost $250 and sound better than anything I have had on my head that cost 3x as much. As an audiophile I judged these on the sound and that sound has to be heard to believed. Before break in you will get bright highs and stiff bass. Once you get them broken in the highs calm down and the lows smooth out. They will work from your phone and DAC but you will not get the real sound until you put them on an amp. I have paired it with my panda stack, GSX 1000, SMSL SAP 9 and Aune X7S. With each successive step up in power I could hear the improvement. Audio wise you will not find anything even close until you are looking at headphones at a much higher price point. The Bad: The cable is good but they could have done a much better job in that area. It is short and took me about 2 weeks to get them to loose that packaging shape. On the plus side, it is balanced and of high grade material. The ugly: They are made for a very specific size head and ear size. People like me that have a big head and ears will find it to be very uncomfortable after a while. It is supposed to be an over ear but because of the size of the pad it is more of an on ear. That wouldn\'t be so bad but with such a solid design, they will put enough pressure on the side of your head to make it painful after a while. When I received mine I realized that the left and right cables were incorrectly pinned. The left was the right and vice versa. I called and didn\'t reach anyone so I left a message. The next morning I received a phone call from their sales manager who offered to replace them free of charge no questions asked. We then had a long conversation about what I felt were issues for the next 30 or so minutes and not once did he rush to get off the phone. He took notes and thanked me for my input, then asked if I would be willing to speak to them if they had any questions regarding my critique. I later received a follow up call to make sure I was happy with the results of my call. Customer service was outstanding and I am very grateful for how they handled my call and time.Sound = 10/10 (subjective to the listener)Build = 6/10 (they are beautiful and solidly built but uncomfortable... to me)Price = 10/10Customer service = 10/10(Quick side note, I mentioned earlier that they are balanced. So if you have a balanced amp, you can connect it via xlr and get all that ooey gooey balanced sound goodness)My overall rating is five stars because to me, the performance outweighs the comfort, especially for such an inexpensive pair of headphones. Lastly, I own 3 pairs of the 1More Over ear, 1 for me, 1 for the wife and one that is going to be a present. Yes, they are that good that I put $ into these headsets, and if you ask me, I got the better end of the deal hands down. Hope you find this review helpful.
