CRAZEDpilot In-The-Ear Headset
- This headset is an obvious copy of the Clarity Aloft or Halo headsets, both of which I have used in the past. This headset aims to provide the same comfort at an amazing price point, and almost succeeds. The headband is comfortable and the mic sounds great (no mic gain control though). The two major issues are with the headphone earbuds. First, the cable connecting the earbuds to the headset is shockingly delicate and unprotected. The second issue, which was immediately apparent, is that the earbuds they have chosen to use are too big and don\'t fit into the ear far enough, even using different ear tips. The result is mediocre noise blocking-I could not get a good seal because the earbuds could not go in my ears deep enough. The earbuds have a fairly large plastic housing which just gets in the way. They would have been better using a tiny driver like the clarity aloft, which achieves its excellent noise suppression using a tiny headphone driver but it\'s small so it goes deeper into the ear canal. If the manufacturer could use smaller earbud drivers and use a stronger, protected earbud cable, this would be a winner.
- Since I bought them it’s been more than 20 flight hours using the headset already, really light and confortable to use, mic stayed in position all the time, the only thing I against this headset is that the volume of the audio coming from the Aux input is too low, one of the reasons I choose this one was for the advantage of connect the iPad to my headset and have all the ForeFlight call outs, but this audio volume is too low, almost can’t hear it. It will be great if CRAZEDpilot comes with a new model fixing this issue
- I sold my DC One-Xs for a pair of these. As I moved into a 737 it seems like most of the time I found myself hanging an ear out of my headset in order to have conversation. I don’t know what it is, but it seems like we never use the ICS system. Felt like overkill having all the ANR if one ear was always exposed anyway. This headset was my solution. It has been AWESOME. The headset is really comfortable, sound clarity is great, seems like ATC always hears me clearly, the line is plenty long allowing for ease of plug-in, it doesn’t take batteries. I can use only one ear bud in or two depending on whether or not we are using the ICS. My hair never gets messed up!Unfortunately, I left my set in an aircraft last night and probably won’t be able to recover them.
- Flew about 12 hours in an Airbus A321 with these and found them to be quite acceptable. Communications from ATC were clear and crisp, and the boom mic transmitted my voice well. From a comfort level, you will mostly forget you have these on after a few minutes. The only exception to that being the metal backstrap will often contact your shirt collar, which sounds annoying but wasn’t a big deal. The biggest plus to me is not having anything pressing on or around my ears and over the top of my head for hours on end.I’m not sure I’d recommend these for GA or noisier flight decks (e.g. B737) which tend to require noise cancelling systems, which these do not have. For an Airbus, they work well. We’ll see how well they hold up, but so far, I like them.
- I found that the mic cuts in and out with the typical background noise of, for example, a Cessna. Possibly good for solo flight and just radio comms, but not great for two people: a student or instructor for example. They are reasonably comfortable, though getting the mic to stay in one fixed place is not easy. Earbud volume and sound cancelling is merely fair. The old saying: you get what you pay for, applies here.
- This headset was great for 18 months. However, the wire jacket for the earpiece slowly wore through. It was no longer usable after 18 months. I guess I should have bought a nicer headset from the start. I flew quite a bit during this time. I\'d estimate that these lasted for 300 hours of use.
- It has a clear sound and significantly (although there is no ANC as advertised) reduces the outside noise in a 777 aircraft. But it is very uncomfortable. I can barely tolerate it until 20000\'. They could have used soft material for the ear part. I would go for the other alternatives.
