Kove Kasita Bluetooth Boombox Speaker - Portable and Rechargeable, Wireless with HD Louder Volume, Deep Bass Subwoofer, Microphone, IPX6 Waterproof - Perfect Boom Box for Home, Outdoor or Travel
- I have been using this speaker for over a year now, and I must say....wow! There\'s penty of volume in this little thing. I will admit that the bass is a little heavy over the mids and highs, but at least someone added bass without makinig it cost $300. I have only ever used the bluetooth function. I have never messed with the memory button. I turn it on, connect it to my phone, and rock out on either Pandora or SXM. I have played multiple genres to see what it can handle. Most of the time I run 3/4 volume, and all genres seem to respond well to that level. The battery life is still pretty decent after a year, which is nice. This is just what I wanted for the garage and the work site. Very happy overall!!
- An obvious visual copy of a certain named manufacturer, the Kove Kasita Bluetooth boombox speaker is a nice sounding surprise in a world filled with low-end knockoffs.Build:As mentioned above, the visual design is a rather obvious copy of a certain other manufacturer in the same category. The build quality is actually really good all around, sturdy materials that have no creak or stress when handled. The covered port in the rear is rubberized and helps with liquid ingress, and it doesn\'t feel cheap, like it will fall off after a few uses. It hides the USB-C charging port, a 3.5mm audio in jack for direct connection and a USB-A port for using the massive 7200 mAh battery as a charger for your phone or other device and for playing audio files on a USB drive or the like. The built-in carrying handle is very sturdy and solid feeling and this unit also includes a nice carrying strap that connects to metal connection points. The grill surrounding the majority of the unit is metal and has a nice finish to it. There are rubberized touch controls on the tops that are easy enough to use, but because they aren\'t lit, are not easy to find without directly looking at them. After using this for a while, I got accustomed to the placement and could operate the device easily enough without looking at it. I would like to have seen the controls illuminated, this would have been icing on the cake. The bottom of the unit is finished off by sturdy, rubberized rubber feet that keep the unit planted regardless of where you place it, and it has a nice heft to it that gives it a premium feel.In use, once you turn the unit on, you are greeted with a very distinctive start up sound. It takes you kind of by surprise in not only the volume it comes in at but the sound itself, nothing bad, just very different. Connectivity is a breeze, and it connects easily and stays connected without issue. After pairing, my devices never had a problem reconnecting almost instantly.Sound quality:Treble - the highs here are distinct without sounding harsh, cymbals and higher-toned instruments have a pleasant sound with no ringing or distortion even at high volumes. This speaker features two tweeters that are about eight inches apart for decent separation.Midrange - is respectable for this category of device. Vocals come across warm and full enough to not sound like they are coming from a tiny box. Bass guitar and saxophones really shine as does other mid-ranged instruments. Of note, it\'s better to leave this unit in the standard sound mode (default) and use your phone or device to EQ the sound. You get much better results with this setup as the other two modes aren\'t really that good. The speaker has two mid-bass speakers that handle midrange and bass.Bass - is surprisingly good, not room shattering by any means, but the bass can definitely be heard and felt depending on the type of room and surface you place it on. The bass is augmented by two side firing bass radiators that are about two inches wide. You can see them working when you turn up the volume to higher levels. All in all, the bass is very respectable without overpowering the overall sound.Overall sound is crisp, clean, and clear at all volumes this unit can play at. The total power is 60w for all the speakers and this is good power for a speaker this size. The overall tone of this speaker is good, separation is good, and imaging is decent enough for the speaker drivers being so close to each other. The only issue I have is the pricing for this unit, as of this review it is not currently available on Amazon but when it was the going price was around $180 and the retail price is closer to $375, which I think isn\'t worth it for what this speaker offers. I think a nice round $150 would be very reasonable for this and the main reason this didn\'t get five stars. If you can find it for a good price, this unit comes highly recommended.
- I\'ve heard that the best song for testing a speaker is Tracy Chapman\'s \'Fast Car.\' Personally, I prefer the Across the Universe version of \'Dear Prudence.\' Each of the four singers tests a different range, and the steady, thrumming bass pulse below it all shows how well your speaker can handle multiple ranges at a time. So that\'s what I used to try this speaker out. And it was pretty darn good, with some interesting caveats.Streaming from my phone was a snap. Zero connection problems, 20 seconds from out of box to hearing Dana Fuchs\' smoky, sultry voice. At around half volume, the background bass was a steady, clear thrum. Jim Sturgess\' tenor came out crisp enough to put on a sandwich, and Evan Rachel Wood trilled beautifully. Joe Anderson\'s baritone harmonized seamlessly, which is something I\'ve noticed causes problems with other capsule speakers. When they all sang together, I could pick out each distinct voice. That said, as weird as it is to say, they were all a bit too clear. The bass and the baritone needed to resonate more than they were.I switched over to Blackaway and Black Caviar\'s \'What\'s Up, Danger\' and figured out the problem immediately. The bass has no \"punch\" to it. When the song picks up with \"Can\'t stop me now!\" you should feel the sound in your chest, but there was nothing. No impact. Everything was super clear, but it came at the cost of any depth of sound field. As for volume, the sound nicely filled a 900 square foot room, with no dead spots or noticeable drop in volume as I stood further away. It was even surprisingly clear at high volume, and with the wattage they packed into it, that high was pretty loud.I\'m still going to give this speaker 4 stars, because if you\'re just listening to the Top 40, it\'s a decent speaker with great sound. It\'s a bit too big for music in the shower, but it would be good for background music at an outdoor party. It\'s just not going to be your main speaker when you want to feel the music.Regarding construction and functionality, it\'s water resistant, holds a good charge, and seems to be solidly built. It\'s a great speaker for casual listening
- This solid bluetooth boombox provides loud, clear sound. It is not lacking in bass. The three band ranges of low, mid, and high frequencies are so distinct and carved out, that certain genres sound better than others. but, unless you\'re a stickler for/only listen to \"wall of sound\" stuff, this is perfectly suitable. Really good, even.I haven\'t\' worn this with a strap, though it looks sturdy. I use it in the kitchen, and the only bluetooth units i\'ve seen that are more powerful than this one were definitely in a higher price bracket.Charges reasonable fast, retains a charge reasonably long. No complaints there.
