MK Controls Lightning Bug with Cable #218 for Canon N3 Plug
- I use this lightning trigger on a Canon 5D Mark III. It is my first lightning trigger and I debated whether to buy this one or get the more expensive brand that my friend uses. I chose this one and have been extremely satisfied with it. It even has a wider range of sensitivity adjustment than my friend\'s trigger. Get used to adjusting the sensitivity because that will be the answer to just about any issues you might have with it not triggering. Just turn the sensitivity up a bit.The only improvement I could suggest to this lightning trigger is to have a faster and more convenient on/off switch. My friend\'s trigger has a simple toggle switch for turning it off and on, where this one has a button that you have to hold down for a second. The toggle switch is quick to locate in the dark, whereas the buttons on the Lightning Bug are flush with the device and not quick to locate in the dark. To check an image that you just captured, it is necessary to turn off the trigger (any trigger, not just this one). You usually want to be able to do that quickly so that you can view the image and make any necessary camera adjustments, then get the trigger turned back on to capture more shots. The extra seconds it takes to turn the trigger off and back on are a hindrance if that once-in-a-lifetime strike occurs while you\'re holding the power button down. But even with that one nit that I picked, this is still a 5-star trigger. The price difference between this trigger and my friend\'s more expensive one makes my little gripe about the power switch not so significant.
- I rarely wright reviews but I like this Lightning Bug. It does not come with a instruction manual so I had to print it off their site and it will take up a lot of paper. That said when I did what they recommend it was too sensitive during the daylight and captured way to many pics of nothing although it did it\'s job capturing close bolts. You will need to change all those settings for night time shots. This is for people that want to get lightning pictures and not get hit. I aim the camera towards the storm and go inside. :)
- This is my third Lightning Bug Trigger - not because the previous two failed, but because I now have one on all my cameras. They are well made and an excellent value. Don\'t waste your money on more expensive triggers, this is the best on the market.
- Still playing with it have to wait for lightning!!
- Works great
- Works as advertised. Took very little getting used to. Sure beats the \"take a hundred pictures, hope a couple turn out\" manual method! Highly recommend.
- did what I wanted - triggered the camera when lightening went off
- I have very limited use at this time. Lightning has not been around much. It seems to work well for the 2 times I used it. Once at night and once during the day.
