Bose QuietComfort 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones - Limited Edition (Discontinued by Manufacturer)
- I work in a modern office with a large open office space. When I need to concentrate on my work, I wear these for some added noise reduction. Compared to regular, decent closed headphones, it will add a little extra noise reduction. Nothing too spectacular, but it is definitely a nice improvement. It is most excellent at blocking out white noise, such as that generated by wind, fans, air conditioners, noise refrigerators etc. When people are standing next to you chatting, it will reduce the noise by a little bit. But if you listen to music at the same time, it drowns out the noise better than regular headphones I find. The sound quality is good. They sound a bit like monitors; they produce a nice, clean sound over the entire spectrum. They\'re not heavy on bass like some other headphones. On the plus side, they do not clip at louder volumes. Compared to my older high quality headphones, a Sennheiser HD 580, it does sound better in lower frequencies, and a little worse in higher frequencies. I think this can mostly be attributed to the fact that the Sennheiser is an open design, and these are closed. The finish is really nice. They\'re good looking and very, very comfortable. I can wear them all day. Your ears might get a bit sweaty, but this too is typical for all closed headphones. Another nice bonus is the included travel case, so your headphones do not get destroyed in transport.I use rechargeable NiMH AAA-batteries. A single battery lasts at least 3 days at the office, after which I put them in a small usb charger. They probably would last longer though, but I haven\'t tested it.Overall I think these are great headphones, but the price is a little steep. If you really, really hate the typical white noise, then it is a no-brainer though. 5/5 If the price would drop to the $200-$250 range.
- I\'m not an audiophile in the sense that I know jargon that audiophiles use, but I am an audiophile in the sense that I\'ve used many different, high-quality headphones and I have been able to appreciate what great headphones sound like. I am an aerospace engineer with a strong fundamental understanding of sound waves, and I appreciate good technology. These headphones are pretty good, and almost worth the expense.I own a pair of mid-quality Grados that put these to shame. My mid-quality Senns even stack up against these for their audio quality. But I bought these because I tried them out in Best Buy one day and I loved the noise canceling and was very impressed by the audio quality.I suppose Best Buy had ideal test conditions, because I have not really enjoyed noise canceling outside of one experience. They are awesome on an airplane. It really handles high-frequency noise well. If you travel a lot by plane, buy these headphones. When using them in a coffee shop, or even at home, they do not handle ambient noise well (things like keystrokes, the clanging of dishes being put away, doors shutting, etc.). This is to be expected now that I better understand how the noise canceling works, and I use them when appropriate. The construction is great. They don\'t feel cheap. I like the limited edition colors. They smell good. The battery replacement is straightforward. The cord is a good length. I don\'t have many complaints, I\'m just a little underwhelmed.Overall, I feel that the sound could be improved. It\'s not crisp and nothing about the sound quality stood out to me (after listening to jazz, hip-hop, punk, classic rock...etc.). Anyway, just my experience.
- These literally just arrived at my doorstep an hour ago. But I would like to share a first glance/hear review for now.First off, spending such a pile of monies on a pair of headphones was terrifying a year ago, but with my commute on public transit annoying my ears, and suffering with crappy headset/headphones until now, I decided to treat myself. Yes, I wasn\'t convinced by the reviews, and was saying goodbye to my $300+ upon pressing buy, but I am so glad I made the purchase.One\'s ears of course feel weird trying new headphones. The sound quality is definitely different than my $30 Sennheiser pair, but I have to say it is also a lot better in ways. I guess my ears were used to crappy sound quality all these years, and suddenly being put into a comfy and well balanced sounding pair unsettled them. We don\'t like change, so this pair is definitely a different experience than any other headphones I\'ve worn.Con: only quip I have about these is they run on a battery. I mean, I have plenty batteries but I probably will exchange the one in these (it came included in the package) with a slightly more eco friendly rechargeable version. Power source is a real problem with electronics lately. Not one design is efficient enough or easy enough to carry around or charge etc. So I guess it was an ok idea to go with a normal AAA battery (AA?) not sure whoops. Will see how long the headphones will last on one battery and if they live up to the supposed 35 hour listening time estimate on the box....Music wise, I cannot say the sound is the BEST I\'ve experienced with headphones. But who am I to judge, I\'m not an audiophile, and I don\'t wear studio headsets every day (or at all frankly). A piece of advise though, make sure you read the instructions regarding the HI/LO function, it really makes a difference when you listen to music on your portable device or a home system. If the sounds quiet and you\'re halfway on the volume control you should probably change the setting to HI. Anyhow, If I haaaad to critique the sound it would be this:It is a little heavy on the bass, and is almost too crisp on some levels of my funky techno electronica songs, but I really cannot complain. The quality of sound, and the construction is superb. I don\'t see how people say they are cheaply made. The ear pieces are comfy, I had my share of fun squishing the cups because they were so nice feeling (hehe), and the headset itself is light. If it were built any \"better\" it would probably be a lot heavier and clunky and uncomfortable (I think). For the purpose, sound isolation and comfort, these do a great job, and I once again, cannot complain. Well done Bose, maybe if these were $200 instead of $300 maybe I\'d bought them a lot sooner. But I digress...SO far so good folks, this is only my first impression though, but you honestly should give these a try. Definitely worth the money, if not a bit on the pricey side, but if you\'ve got the cash go for it!Will keep my review updated as I break these in more. Hopefully they last me a good while!
