Sherwood Scuba Download Cable for Wisdom3 Computer

Now here is a quandary. I wish there was a choice, but there isn\'t. The cable is fine, that\'s why it gets 4 stars, other than it\'s $99 for a $3 USB cable with a special end. Sadly we lost ours on our last dive trip and need to buy another one. It connects most of the time, but you have to fiddle with it about 20% of the time to get a link up. The real problem is Sherwood\'s software and the Wisdom 3 itself. The manuals on the Wisdom are abominable, I\'m going to offer to rewrite it for them, but I wonder why. We have two brand new ones, my second replacement is on it\'s way now. Mine last a few dives before failure. My wife\'s has had 22 dives without a fault.The software is confusing. You look all over trying to figure out how to download. Then there are a series of not so intuitive pop up windows and menu steps. The graphs and data are great when you get to it and there is a good deal of flexibility in annotating location and other dive information. It\'s a wonderful tool to analyze your dive after the fact with 15 second increment depth data. It would be nice to have temperature and tank pressure graphes also.I got one download from the Sherwood and one I loaded the software from the disk. They merged the program but stored the dive data in different locations. It took me hours to find the data from my first computer, I thought it erased it. The data is stored by person and dive computer serial number. There is no way to merge dive data. That means I will now have three sets of data and my last five dives are lost forever except as manual entry with minimal maximum data. My wife will have one set, so far. I don\'t look forward to having to show someone my dive history and needing to get it from multiple files one at a time.
I have the original Sherwood Wisdom and recently upgraded to the Wisdom 3. I was surprised to find that the data transfer cables were not the same, and try as I might, I was not able to transfer data using the old cable. To add insult to injury, the new cable was not exactly inexpensive. With that said, the new cable works just as expected. It connects quickly to the DC, and the dive logs are easily and quickly transferred to the computer showing a full picture of the dive profile. I seem to recall difficulty with the old cable trying to transfer the data after each trip, so whether it\'s the upgrades to the new cable or the DC it\'self I am please with the results. It would have been nice not to have to purchase yet another cable though.
Ok ..but way to expensive . The software limits the size of tanks you can enter as well. Nothing other than 80s . Sherwood is taking advantage of its customers. I will remember it.
Works as expected. However, why the need for a proprietary cable, and why so expensive?

The cord is expensive and honestly for that much money it should come with some sort of dive log program that you can use it for.
