Sony SRSX2 Ultra-Portable NFC Bluetooth Wireless Speaker (Red) with Speakerphone
- I enjoy when my grandsons play their Hip Hop or Reggae Music with this particular Sony SRSX2 Wireless Bluetooth Portable Speaker because of the Sound Quality and the way the speaker has just enough Bass
- Sony SRSX2 Ultra-Portable NFC Bluetooth Wireless Speaker (Black) with Speakerphone Pros: full range of quality sound, Near Field Communication (NFC); Bluetooth; small footprint; nice heft for its size; in wall charging (many don’t have this feature); carrying case/portability; battery life. Three years this month 01/2019. Superb little speaker. BT connects amazingly fast without the need for NFC.Cons: price (It’s a Sony); limited stereo separation; occasional NFC/Bluetooth glitchiness (see below)The two main features for me are NFC which simplifies/speeds up the BT connection and in wall charging as opposed to charging it from a computer. I have only laptops anymore and don’t want to charge a battery off a battery.I have really nice sub woofers in my home theater and auto so I know bass and this thing will never please me with THAT kind of bass, get real. That being said, this little thing puts out a nice full sound that is rather pleasing. Think of a Bose wave speaker, only smaller and not as good. I leave the NFC and Bluetooth turned on permanently in my phone and while awake (screen not blacked out from sitting) I touch the bottom center of phone over the N symbol on the Sony (Sony is off). This turns on the Sony speaker and it automatically looks to connect to Bluetooth which it does 95% of the time instantly. The other 5%, I curse at it and then it works. I listen to a streaming subscription music service and after the first time adjusting both the phone volume and the Sony volume, it just connects and reverts to those preset volume levels, nice. To disconnect, you can either walk over and touch the phone to the Sony again to disconnect OR just exit your music app on your phone and the Sony automatically shuts off after about 10 minutes of no signal. The Bluetooth connection might keep it on if you are still in range but it won’t drain the Sony battery without a signal so no big deal.So I rate this highly and paid the price because of NFC, in wall charging, small footprint and ultimately no wires. I have 2 of those 2.1 sub/sat systems in the house and LOVE not screwing around with the hassle and ugliness of wires. Plus, its totally portable. The only glitch to report other than an occasional NFC hesitation is one night on the porch (near 32 degrees extended time out there) it completely whacked out (3 days after I bought it). It kept disconnecting and reconnecting haphazardly and it wasn’t until I rebooted my phone did it calm down. Not sure if it was the cold, Android thing, Sony or some combination of them or what. It has never done it since but I have not had it in the cold again either. And BTW, in the middle of that, I got my first and only phone call and it auto answered which was cool, had its own non offensive ringtone, and was extremely intelligible and loud. I certainly don’t plan on using it much with my phone for calls but nice to know that feature was quite solid.
- Great audio in a compact package...for a very fair price. This is a good value, watts per dollar. Here\'s what to know:+ Size: The SRSX2 is nice and small...about the size and weight of 16 ounce water bottle which means it fits in all those places so designed.+ Audio: For small, it\'s got the juice. Bass is good (I don\'t expect it have sub-woofer delivery), and improved when the unit is placed against a wall, nice highs and mids, with little mudiness. Listening to Van Halen and Nickel Creek, nice and bright and drives the beat.+ Pairing: Very easy. Be sure to charge it all the way before you turn it on. When its ready, first time on it auto sets itself into pairing so have your phone ready.+ Phone calls: I hadn\'t tried to use this function but received a call listening to some rock n roll and it worked very well. Phone was in the other room and I was talking through the SRSX2 just like a headset.+ Reception: my phone is in another room and I am listening to the music. No issues.+ Power: the manual says that to get higher volume to fill a bigger room, you need to plug it in and that doubles the output. I am using it now in an 800 sq ft room and there is no problem with filling it. I hear it fine in the next room.+ Battery: I have not had a chance to test battery endurance but it charged quick...up full in a couple of hours+ Extras: It comes with a soft case and a power cord. It will accept an audio jack the size that comes on ear buds.I\'d give it 6 stars if it did have sub-woofer bass but that\'s not really fair! :) I am very satisfied and plan to take it to Europe for music and sound masking in hotel rooms. Looking forward to having a rich sound all around while traveling.
- I bought this speaker because Sony Support responded to my question about whether it would work with a Bravia TV and said it would work with the TV. I had purchased and returned a different speaker because it did not work with the Bravia. Even though I had read in reviews that only mice would work with the Bravia bluetooth, I thought perhaps something had changed since Sony support said it would work. After exchanging several e-mails with Sony support, they admitted that it would only work if plugged into the TV using a wired connection. That was not an option for the use I needed it for. Even though Sony support did not recommend using a bluetooth transmitter, I purchased a Tao transmitter to try with the speaker. The combination works fine with a slight lag which is not objectionable in our use. We can now run the TV at a level that suits me and my wife can have the sound at the level she needs for clear hearing. The speaker works well, highs and lows are clear and there is no distortion at the volumes we use. It pairs easily with the Tao, though occasionally needs to be re-paired after both are turned off. The controls are simple. I have waffled between a 3 and 4 star rating because of my experience with Sony support, but I give it a 4 because it is well made, works well, sounds good. The fact that my question wasn\'t as specific as it probably should have been and Sony\'s response wasn\'t the best shouldn\'t downgrade the speaker and it\'s performance.
