Westone Wx Single Driver True-Fit Earphone with Wireless Bluetooth Cable
- Good sound fidelity and clarity. No issues so far with dropoff, signal loss, etc. from the wireless feature. The cord with controls and battery are a bit awkward, but fine for travel, sitting, etc. Would be a 5 except for price (a good deal, but not a great one), All-in-all a very good headset.
- The product is okay per se and well built, but the ergonomic isn\'t there. The way battery and control are dangling behind your ears makes it insecure to leave the band behind your neck. The mic has to be sensitive because of the position relative to the source of voice, and it is, and that\'s a problem in itself. It provides great clarity and people I\'m on the phone with couldn\'t tell that I\'m talking into a wireless headset, but it picks up all ambient conversations and noises and that can be often disruptive. All day battery life. The earbuds themselves are well balanced but due to the size limitation, it doesn\'t produce the wide range of sound like the other westone earbuds.
- I bought the Wx for $99 on amazon which included free same day shipping. The product arrived on time, so Kudos to Amazon for lighting fast shipping! Packaging was UN damaged. It comes with the IEM earbuds, the APTX Bluetooth cable, a lot of different ear tips (in fact the same amount found in the more expensive lineup), charging usb cable, cleaning tool, and small caring pouch. The sound quality - First I can confirm that it does play music at APTX standard; your audio device should show that it’s able to transmit to the Wx with APTX (considering your audio device can stream APTX). The sound of these IEM is subjectively great in my opinion. Even as a single BA driver they have very nice clarity with a warm tone. The sound stage is larger than I expected which surprised me. Mids and highs are clear, bass is easily noted and strong when called for but not as dominate as some may like it to be. I would not recommend these if you\'re a bass head.Tone on these IEM surprised me to say the lease. For me the big winner is the comfort of these IEM\'s, I have not found a single universal IEM that feels as comfortable in my ears as these. In fact because of the comfort I bought another pair of Westone (the w30\'s) to meet some other needs of mine. The size of the IEM is small and fits into my ear pretty flush enough I can lay on a pillow with little to no comfort issue.Build quality is great; however, the buttons on the Bluetooth adapter are a little hard to feel by touch so it takes me an extra second or two to validate which button im about to push. Not a big deal but I thought it would be worth mentioning.Pros:Fit and finish - extremely comfortable to me (I have small ears also)Accessories – it comes with so many silicone and foam ear tips, you’d be hard pressed to not find a good pair that fits.Sound quality is fantasticBattery life – I was able to get about 10 hours of off and on play time going to the gym with these over a week.Cons:Buttons on the usb cable are to delineate by touch aloneThe case, while nice, feels just a little bit small – I worry about folding the cables up so many times over and over.
- Just disappointed overall in this purchase. I was late to the bluetooth game, but decided to make the plunge when both my work and personal phones excluded the 3.5 headphone jack. I ended up with these Westones because (1) I wanted a compatible MMCX bluetooth wire to work with my other IEMs and (2) no IEM nozzle + tip (the long foam ones) fits like Westone\'s. They\'re tremendous at isolating noise. The below issues occurred regularly and consistently when using an iPhone 6, iPhone 8, Nexus 5X, or Google Pixel 2 (I used the headset with 2 separate Pixel 2 units). My complaints:1. Poor connection - Given prior poor experience with BT, I was hesitant to buy any BT set, but ultimately made the leap on these given Westone\'s reputation and the quality promises of Bluetooth 4.0 + aptX technology. The results were pretty disappointing. The cord fails to keep a solid connection to my phone during the day when moving, specifically during walks, my daily commute, and while working out. During the winter, I keep my phone in my chest coat pocket, which is less than 1.5 ft from the Bluetooth cable. I\'m amazed the audio cuts out so frequently. I can only imagine what happens in the spring/summer when my phone is in my back pants pocket. Spotty connection is a dealbreaker for me when coming from a 100% solid connection with my wired sets. That\'s not a compromise I thought I\'d need to make.2. Microphone issues - Probably the biggest annoyance. The cord includes a microphone and features for taking calls. The results are disastrous. Through my earphones, I can hear EVERYTHING going on around me. The mic picks up all background noise and delivers it to my ears. I can\'t isolate the voice of the person on the other line unless I\'m in an very quiet room. The person on the other line has issues hearing me too. My solution when using this set is to answer the call and then change the call settings to use the phone to talk/listen versus the headset. Really poor user experience here, and a huge reason I no longer use these.3. Poor sound quality - This is specific to the IEM housing versus the cord. The Westone IEMs gave disappointing sound. At low, medium, and high volumes, the audio coming through sounded muffled. This changed immediately when pairing the cord with another housing like the MEE Pinnacle/Pinnacle 2. The Westone tips fit extremely well (as expected), but delivered sub-par sound. The saving grace is the tips. They\'re my go-to for flights now (I pair them with another wired MMCX cord). They just isolate better than anything else out there for me, so I use them for noisy environments even though the sound is so-so.I reached out to Westone via their online form soon after my purchase (December 2017/January 2018) to see if my issues were isolated, but I didn\'t hear back from them after 3 months. I\'m overall disappointed in this product, and the lack of feedback from Westone has turned me off from considering them for future purchases.
- The design is very well conceived. It sits very securely in my ears based on its shape and does not rely on uncomfortable hardware to keep it in my ears. Because of this I almost don\'t feel it yet with lots of movement during workouts it never moves. All parts of the device also feel well made with quality materials. These are my 3rd or 4th Bluetooth headphones and I\'m feeling good at this point that these might last. The sound is also fantastic with a Bluetooth aptX lossless connection to my flac player. I\'ve heard aspects of familiar songs I didn\'t know were there before. Lots of ear tips to choose from, but the noise canceling option, they feel like ear plugs, is my favorite. I hear no outside sounds and I don\'t have to play my music at a high level to achieve this.
