- I have used this Zhiyun Smooth 4 stabilizer for a few days and I highly recommend it. I have the previous version (Smooth Q) and it\'s a vast improvement in term of qualify and features:Casing: The Smooth 4 is packed in a with a very light, tough foam casing which can be reuse for traveling.Design of Control Panel: All great features at your finger tips. All the main functionalities and settings can be quickly and easily adjusted at a touch of a button and eliminate the need to go through the screen setting . The zooming wheel is very smooth and better than the previous version (buttons). I can quickly switch between Pan-Following mode and Locking mode right at my thumb position. This is helpful when shooting video of children or action scenes where you can\'t afford to stop and adjust the settings.Focus Pull & Zoom Capability: The zoom wheel is smooth and quiet. Focus and zoom works very well on my Note 8.Object Tracking: I love this feature. Once I have the object locked in, the camera follows the object smoothly. Very helpful when you or the object is in motion.PhoneGo mode: The newly added PhoneGo mode (respond to every delicate movement without delay) is a great feature. Scenes can switch quickly - and the scene transition can be achieved without post-processing.Two-way Charging: Smooth 4 uses USB Type-C port for quick charge as well as output port to charge your phone (as an external battery). You can use a USB Type-C adapter if you want to charge your older phone.Tripod included: For my other stabilizer, I had to purchase a separate tripod. The Smooth 4 included a strong, stable tripod--a must have even when it\'s not in use..Overall: The Smooth 4 is very well-made, full of features, easy to use right out of the box. All the important features can easily access in one hand. Syncing the Smooth 4 with the app (ZY Play) is quick and simple. Motors are smooth and very quiet. - First off, I haven\'t received any type of compensation or consideration for this review. I have also never used any other gimbal device so if you\'re a pro at it forgive my naivete.I used this with my iPhone Xs Max so all the features and functions worked as advertised.Setup - Downloaded the App from the app store and opened it. Turned on the ZY Smooth 4 and it connected right away and went directly to the camera. Periodically in use I\'ve had to close and reopen the app and it\'s reconnected everytime.In Use - For sure take off any cover on the phone. I have a Mous cover and the ZY will seem to work but it will not pan properly. Learning to use the two triggers didn\'t take long, I got the hang of it in minutes if that. I\'ve read others mention that the lack of a joystick is a downer. Since I\'ve never used a gimbal or joystick before I don\'t miss it. The camera app is simple to understand except the much touted Vertigo mode - I still haven\'t gotten the hang of that. All the other modes are straight forward and actually fun to experiment with, although your friends will be annoyed that you\'re always filming. The only thing I had to look up was the focus/zoom toggle for the wheel - pressing the lower left button toggles between the two.The App - Your footage from the app stays in the app until you download it to the Photo Library on the phone. At first I didn\'t have an appreciation for the extra step but I like it now. You can easily review the footage and only download what you want. In my case I saved far less than I actually shot so cleaning up unwanted footage was easier in the end. There\'s really not much to report on the app, it does what it\'s supposed to and that\'s that.All in all, for $130 it\'s a fun new toy and the footage is smooth like I expected.
- This is my 2nd Zhiyun gimbal. I also have the Smooth 3. I am a huge fan of their products. Even though there is a bit of a learning curve, the construction and quality of their products makes it worth it. This is one of those devices you don’t think you need, but if you have a vlog you really do. I use the Smooth 3 with a gopro and this one was purchased to use with an iphone xs max. I was worried about the weight but it balances fine as you can see in the pictures. Also the 4 has a really nice zoom wheel and the docking /standby feature makes it alot easier to insert the phone. The smooth 4 comes with a small tripod which the Smooth 3 did not. We used it at a concert and it eliminated all the bounce we usually see in videos. It makes great travel videos. The app for your phone has alot of powerful features that give your recordings a very professional look. You can find lots of video tutorials on you tube that help with set up and getting used to the software. They have some nice accessories I picked up to go with it. One was a zipper case for it and the other was an extension stick that lets you get some distance between you and the device. Highly recommend !
- The media could not be loaded. When you first look at the device, it looks very intimidating. But it\'s actually not. It is very easy to use and packed with features. You can learn to use the basic features quickly and start using it right away.Smooth 4 is latest smart phone camera stabilizer by Zhiyun. It is bluetooth device that connect to your smart phone and it runs its own app to shoot video. Smooth 4 has so many different feature that will make your video look amazing and professional. The price has come down a lot and any one can purchase this device and take your video production to next level.I\'m not sure about other phones, but I\'ve tested with iphone 8 plus and all the features works perfectly. Only minor problem I have is that when you put the device in suspended mode, it some times, loose Bluetooth connection with the phone and app. So I have to close the app and relaunch.
